Crafty Magazine

Editorial Layout / Art Direction / Brand Identity

Crafty is an imagined magazine branded, designed, and laid out by me. It combines my two favorite subjects—art & craft, and highlights artists who elevate everyday and overlooked materials to the level of fine art.

  • Timeline: 12 weeks

    Tools: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator

  • The existing craft magazine market is dominated by publications that cater to an older demographic and often lack a refined or contemporary visual sensibility. Meanwhile, arts magazines frequently overlook craft altogether, and craft magazines tend to ignore the artistic depth of the work they feature.

What would a contemporary craft magazine look like that would appeal to a millennial and gen z audience?

  • Crafty was designed to redefine the visual language of craft publications by combining the sophistication of art magazines with the warmth and creativity of the crafting world. The visual identity is contemporary and expressive, layered, and colorful—inviting a millennial/gen z audience to see craft not as kitsch, but as a serious and inspiring form of artistic expression.
